Finding the way to the start line wasn't difficult as it has been a spot for efs tri camps over the previous few years. Weather fine - swell medium with wind chop - air temp low but expected to climb
The dream team #2 had a 3 person relay spot.....missing ace paddler Geoff Grose as the event no longer has a paddle section & substituting Gary the Bikeman for Aarron E .
Plenty of other ratties around and all trying to photobomb our media coverage .
Race time-good swim by the team anchor for 1500 meters ...keeping it straight and passing plenty whilst handing out squad cards for LFB
Then the rockhopper was away. After 100 mtrs it was rockhopping along the beach before hilly bits and flies. A really fast 12km run saw team in strong contention for podium and it was over to the man from Norway - Gazza.
Massive bike leg effort, avoiding stacks and pumping it on a tricky, turning course & we end up 8th ----what ????
Where is the VAR & Video Umpire...surely there must have been shortcuts or secret course map we didn't get in our bags or course change when all getting a coffee whilst race briefing was on.
Oh well....great day...great team....lots of rats there....and we all got a tee shirt .
